Long Awaited Piece

Nine months ago I shipped my latest project home from California. The Ducati 250 still needed a few parts to be complete and thus the search began. Today I found the most sought after item…the tank. I do not want to build this bike back up as a Monza, whatever it was in a previous life. The only indication that it might have been a Monza are the two fenders. However, the head is that of a Diana. Since I do like the Diana/Mark III and Mach 1 style a lot better, the Diana tank was what I was searching for.

I watched more than one come and go in various imperfect conditions and greatly varying exorbitant prices. That was until I narrowed in on one with a fairly reasonable price and a very decent shape for its age.

It will need some work and that was to be expected.  It has all the curves in the right places and should match up wonderfully.  I see at least one small dent but overall little more than a good sanding should clean it up.  The inside looks very well intact with typical surface rust and shouldn’t be a problem that POR15 can’t handle.
