Full Retard Tacoma

On the way to Colorado a few weeks back, the truck encountered some problems. Midway through Kansas, the Tacoma was struggling to make power and in some instances, could barely make it up a 'Kansas hill'. If you are familiar with Kansas then you'll know how bad that is. tacomaEngine Read the rest of this entry »

Something to Pull

This morning, with the bumper solid as a rock, I went and picked up the trailer and a gallon of latex white paint. I've got half the inside painted. E-tracks are ordered and on their way as well. Read the rest of this entry »

New Rear Bumper

I went to work with a grinder and flap disc to clean it all up and prep it for paint. Note that the gussets from the bumper to the bracket arms are too large and I did need to cut them each down three inches so that the frame could clear. 20140629_163556 Read the rest of this entry »

Tank Arrival

The tank came this morning! The box was definitely beat up coming all the way from Spain, which gave me some anxiety when opening it up. However, the tank survived with what I assume is not more damage than it may have had. I only see two defined dings in the tank, one on the left, and the other on the right side, which should clean up just fine. 20140630_093522 Read the rest of this entry »

Long Awaited Piece

Nine months ago I shipped my latest project home from California. The Ducati 250 still needed a few parts to be complete and thus the search began. Today I found the most sought after item...the tank. I do not want to build this bike back up as a Monza, whatever it was in a previous life. The only indication that it might have been a Monza are the two fenders. However, the head is that of a Diana. Since I do like the Diana and Mach 1 style a lot better, the Diana tank was what I was searching for. I watched more than one come and go, in various imperfect conditions, and greatly varying exorbitant prices. Until I narrowed in on one with a fairly reasonable price and a very decent shape for its age. tank Read the rest of this entry »

A New Light

I finally got my new tail light installed and working. I ordered a Radiantz LED Flex Array with integrated turn signals. I had to get a connector, Deutsch DT 6 Pin, to wire it to plug into the factory harness. Read the rest of this entry »

Honda Hawk

With the decision made to replace the CB175, the hunt began. I took quite a bit of time to research many different bikes, get rider opinions and relentlessly search through the interwebs for something local. Late one night I found an '88 Honda Hawk NT650 on CL and on the guidance of many friends, chose it over a bunch of other bikes, went and picked it up last night for a very good deal...one that I just couldn't pass up! hawk1 Read the rest of this entry »

Time Trials

A new tradition has started.  This weekend my friend came back from Med School and we decided to break out the toys and host an event.  Over the course of the weekend we pulled out the old go-kart (14.5hp!), the CRF80F and Boss Hog mini bike to get them ready for a time trial race.  More friends joined us on Sunday and we commenced racing.  The two bikes ended up wanting to do nothing but flood and bog, and since we spent so much time rebuilding the kart, we went with one vehicle.
