Mountain Bound 2016 Day 1

Our first day started breakfast in Denver before slabbing it to Pike National Forest to find the first dirt and gravel roads of the adventure. By mid-afternoon we had reached the base of Mount Princeton and Mount Antero to traverse Hancock Pass.

The views were as incredible as we remember. It was a struggle to get up with the large 400lb DR’s, but we managed and finally made it to the summmit!

Then we started what would come to be know as the “summit selfie”…

After we finished with those shenanigans, we continued on to Tomichi Pass.

We got down from the mountains as the sun set and into the one horse town of Sargents, CO, where the wonderfully friendly and hospitable folks at the Tomichi General store opened their just closed doors to let us get some food and camp out back next to a running brook for a truly peaceful mountain evening before turning in to rest for day 2.
