New Zealand 2017 Day 1

Tuesday morning we picked up the motorcycles from Motorent NZ. A silver Honda Africa Twin, and a navy BMW 1200GS. The biggest bikes we’ve ridden on an adventure and the longest distance rides we’ve done with pillions.

Next stop, BlueBridge Ferry to transport us to the South Island! The ferry ride would be 3.5 hours and take most of the afternoon. The journey through the Sound was wonderful.

Being in the southern hemisphere in December and traveling further south meant we had longer days though so we still planned to get some riding in. Once we got to Picton, we took off down the road to Saint Arnaud. Once we reached our destination, we stayed at the Alpine Lodge with a gorgeous views out the back door and a lovely path towards Lake Rotoiti.

Day 2 continues…
